GALLERY: Steve Gullick Grunge & Punk Photo Exhibition

Photographer picks out his favourite shots from his upcoming early 90s exhibition Punk As Fuck, hosted at Indo in east London next month

Steve Gullick, ace photographer and frontman of tenebrous LIAR, is putting on an exhibition of his hand-printed photos of Nirvana, Pavement, Soundgarden and others, taken for Melody Maker and Sounds between 1990 and 1993.

Punk As Fuck will be running at Indo at 133 Whitechapel Road, E1 1DT from March 1-31, and the opening night, Friday 1 March, will feature a set by Spiders Love Buzz at the gallery, playing a host of period-correct grunge and slacker niceties from 7pm onwards. For more details, head here.

In advance of the exhibition, Steve has given us an introduction by way of picking out his highlights, adding: "I’ve had this punk thing in mind for a few years now – I only wanted it to cover from the time I got involved in February 1990 when Sounds commissioned me to photograph Screaming Trees at the Fulham Greyhound to December 1993, which was the last time I photographed Nirvana, at their Pier 48 show in Seattle."
