San Francisco’s Barn Owl have announced their new album V (artwork above), out on April 15 via Thrill Jockey – have a watch of them performing opening track ‘Void Redux’ at the Thrill Jockey 20th anniversary show in their hometown last year:
The duo’s Jon Porras and Evan Caminiti have evolved their desert rock blueprint with the extensive addition of electronics and synths to their legions of guitars, with the end-result being such detailed, slow-burn compositions as ‘Void Redux’, as well as tracks venturing into different genre terrain: the text accompanying the album announcement tells us "in addition to dub, V is informed by musique concrete, library music, and minimal techno".
