Optimus Primavera, the Portugal-based sister festival to Barcelona’s long-running festival of the same (albeit distinctly less pun-happy) name, has announced that it is to return in 2013 after hosting its inaugural edition last year. It will again be hosted at Parque da Cidade in Porto from 30th May until 1st June, and the initial run of tickets will cost €110 (plus booking fee), up until February 11th.
As with last year, the festival will share many names with its big sister, including headliners Blur, My Bloody Valentine and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Elsewhere it features a fairly wide ranging roster of names, including Shellac, Dan Deacon, Liars, Daniel Johnston, Deerhunter, Do Make Say Think, Roll The Dice, Savages, the almighty SWANS, Fucked Up and everyone’s favourite lovers of free blue rucksacks, Foxygen.
There will also be some Portuguese acts specific to the festival, which intend to showcase some of what the country’s own music scene is up to: these include Paus, Dear Telephone, The Glockenwise and Memoria De Peixe.
The full line-up for Optimus Primavera runs as follows: Blur, The Breeders performing Last Splash, Dan Deacon, Daniel Johnston, Daughn Gibson, Dead Can Dance, Dear Telephone, Deerhunter, Degreaser, Dinosaur Jr., Do Make Say Think, Explosions In The Sky, Fidlar, Four Tet, Foxygen, Fuck Buttons, Fucked Up, Ghostigital, Glass Candy, The Glockenwise, Grizzly Bear, Guadalupe Plata, Hot Snakes, James Blake, Julio Bashmore, L’Hereu Escampa, Liars, Local Natives, Los Planetas tocan Una semana en el motor de un autobús, The Magician, Manel, Meat Puppets, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Memória De Peixe, Merchandise, Metz, My Bloody Valentine, Neko Case, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Nurse With Wound, Om, Paus, Pegasvs, Rodriguez, Roll The Dice, Savages, The Sea And Cake, Shellac, Swans, Titus Andronicus, White Fence, Wild Nothing.
