Autechre: New Album Details

Veteran duo's 11th full length due out in March

Veteran Warp-signed duo Autechre have announced that they are to release a new full-length album, their 11th, next year. Entitled Exai, it’s a suitably large scale follow-up to 2010’s Oversteps and Move of Ten, clocking in at over two hours (split across two CDs, or four sides of vinyl, depending on your inclination). It will be released on 4th March 2013.

There’s scant information as it stands about what it’s likely to sound like, although on the basis of Sean Booth and Rob Brown’s past form it could land pretty much anywhere within a broad set of co-ordinates. As companion pieces of sorts, Oversteps and Move Of Ten showed off all aspects of the duo’s approach: everything from glittering beatless ambience to impossibly complex rhythmic work and, on the latter especially, beats that harked back to their electro-dervied early work. As ever, though, they haven’t lost their taste for obtuse track titles – Exai‘s tracklist runs as follows…
