London-based techno producer Blawan has been doing some interesting things as of late – where previously his murky takes on the genre felt so clogged-up with noise and dust as to slow their momentum, his recent His He She & She EP, and its monstrous lead track ‘Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage?’ (read our review here) unleashed a monstrous, stompy funk from deep within. As well as making solo material, he’s also been making tracks along similar lines with fellow Londonder Pariah under the name Karenn.
The duo just announced the release of a new six-track double 12" which ought to provide some decent fodder for swinging jaws. They draw heavily from the 90s industrial techno lineage previously carved out by the likes of Regis and Surgeon, and which has had recent shots in the arm from the likes of Perc and the former duo’s reanimated British Murder Boys project. The marvelously titled ‘A Room Full Of Fuck All’ looks backward and outward still further – early Throbbing Gristle is a clear reference point, as is the recent whacked-out analogue dub of Ekoplekz. It’s due for release through their own She Works The Long Nights label sometime soon.
