Pulp’s Mark Webber Unveils Visual History Book of the Band

'I'm With Pulp, Are You?' features photographs, flyers and other material, alongside a foreword by Jarvis Cocker

Pulp guitarist Mark Webber is publishing a book, featuring a visual history of the much-loved Britpop band.

Set to be published in September, I’m With Pulp, Are You? gathers material from an extensive collection of ephemera and objects that Webber has collected over four decades of involvement with the band. Alongside words from Webber, the book takes in photographs, flyers, record covers, set lists, badges, posters, press clippings and merchandise, as well as other promotional material.

It comes with a foreword by Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, and also features new essays by writer Simon Reynolds and tQ’s own Luke Turner.

In a statement about I’m With Pulp, Are You?, Webber said: “I began to excavate the boxes of Pulp ephemera that I’d hoarded over the years and was amazed to discover so many things that I hadn’t seen for decades, things I’d completely forgotten about. It’s taken a while to get it all together into a book, and in the meantime the group unexpectedly reunited to go on tour again. I’m excited to finally share the stuff I’ve saved, and to present it in this way, along with memories of my experiences of being involved in Pulp from the 1980s ’til now.”

Pulp are currently amidst a series of summer tour dates that takes in appearances at festivals such as Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, Northside in Aarhus, and Oslo’s Øyafestivalen. They reconvened last summer to play their first live shows in more than a decade.

Hat & Beard Press will publish I’m With Pulp, Are You? on September 30, 2024.
