Franz Ferdinand have made a brand-new track available for your listening pleasure.
‘Lucid Dreams’ appeared on the band’s website (and thence via the handy embed thing you can click on below) this evening, and will be available for a limited time only. According to a post on the diary section of the Franz Ferdinan website, "It’s not a single", though it has been reported that ‘Lucid Dreams’ will appear on an EA Sports game later this year.
‘Lucid Dream’ is a typical Franz jaunt with a wee funky flick and pleasing references to the Shipping Forecast. Sonically it seems to build somewhat on much of the material from their second album You Could Have It So Much Better. Oh, and the chorus is a bit of a cracker – if this isn’t a single, they must have some real corkers up their sleeves.
Note how the clever deployment of a record player graphic allows Franz to cover the track in crackle and fuzz to defy all your attempts to nab it for nowt as a solid mp3. Those crafty ‘Scots’. Hear hare here:
