The writer Simon Reynolds has shared details of his first book in eight years, Futuromania: Electronic Dreams, Desiring Machines And Tomorrow's Music Today.

Set to be published by White Rabbit Books, it focuses on futuristic music, taking a chronological look at machine-made music from the '70s up to the present day. Daft Punk, Burial, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Giorgio Moroder are among the artists who are covered across the book.

In a statement, Reynolds said: "Spanning from Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' to autoune's impact on 21st-century pop, Futuromania explores the interface between science fiction and pop music, the human use and abuse of technology, and the dreams and nightmares stirred up by electronic sounds."

Futuromania: Electronic Dreams, Desiring Machines And Tomorrow's Music Today is a sequel of sorts to Reynolds' famous book Retromania: Pop Culture's Addiction To Its Own Past, which was published in 2010.

White Rabbit Books will publish Futuromania: Electronic Dreams, Desiring Machines And Tomorrow's Music Today on April 11, 2024.
