The release is the UK DJ and producer's first full-length project

Joy Orbison has shared details of his debut full-length release, still slipping vol. 1.

Out next month, the 14-track release, which the DJ and producer (real name Peter O'Grady) describes as "a soul record," takes in guest contributions from a number of mainly UK artists within his orbit, such as James Massiah, TYSON, Herron and Léa Sen. The voices of a number of his family members are also interspersed across the project.

"They appear throughout the record via a series of voice notes, his only contact with his family during this year of worldwide lockdown," a press release explains. Cousin Leighann is among those voices and is credited as the first person to introduce O'Grady to drum and bass and garage as a child. She stars on the mixtape's cover art too.

"I've made a point of making this record feel really human, light-hearted and humorous in places," O'Grady says, "so that the weirder bits of the record don't seem too wanky or self-indulgent."

The mixtape will be available on vinyl, CD, cassette and digital formats, while there's also a merchandise collaboration with Tokyo-based fashion brand Cav Empt in the offing. Find more information via Joy Orbison's Bandcamp page.

XL / Hinge Finger will release still slipping vol. 1 on August 13, 2021.
