Since 2011, Lisbon’s Príncipe has been exposing a party-ready kuduro-influenced sound with its roots very much in the Portuguese city thanks to producers such as DJ Marfox, Nídía and DJ Lycox.
The label’s 23rd release, and its second of 2018, sees DJ Lilocox make his full solo debut on Príncipe following on from appearances on various artists compilations such as 2015’s Malucos De Raiz and 2016’s Mambos Levis D’Outro Mundo, as well as on Warp’s compilation further highlighting the Lisbon sound a couple of years back.
Premiering above is the last track on his new five-track 12", ‘Fronteiras’. It centres around the kind of infectious grooves, swung drums and cooing melodies that have made Príncipe a label worth paying close attention to over the years.
DJ Lilocox’s Paz & Amor, on which ‘Fronteiras’ features, is set for release on May 25.
