Bonnacons Of Doom will release their debut album in May

Bonnacons Of Doom have announced details of their debut album due out in May via Rocket Recordings. Above, you can listen to lead track 'Solus' which opens the album.

The collective which have taken a number of forms since their origins are based out of Liverpool and their self-titled debut album arrives off the back of a pair of singles released in 2016 via God Unknown.

"The album is full of found sound from different religious traditions buried in the mix," explains Rob from the group. "By using that cut-up approach we want to be the opposite of controlling - we want people to project what's important to them on the experience, to create their own ritualistic meanings."

He also cites acid house an influence on the collective as well as their environment having mostly hailed from Yorkshire and Lancashire. "Its darkness and beauty, the weirdness of its folk traditions, the independence of mind of its culture and the melancholy of its post-industrial grain," he explains. "I think ultimately what we're trying to achieve is a kind of Trans-Pennine hypnotic music."

The group will play at The Garage in London on March 11 as part of Rocket Recordings' 20th anniversary celebrations and return for Raw Power on May 25. You can find a list of their tour dates here. Bonnacons Of Doom release their debut album on May 18 digitally and on vinyl.
