Stealing Sheep mark the centenary of suffrage with a performance inspired by the movement

This year marks the centenary of women's suffrage and Stealing Sheep have prepared a special live performance to celebrate the movement.

The trio have issued a call-out for 15 female drummers and percussionists from around Liverpool to join them and help create the performance entitled 'Suffragette Tribute'. The performance will be fleshed out over the course of a five-day creative residency as part of Both Sides Now, which is a three-year campaign to support, inspire and showcase women in music across the North of England, co-ordinated by Manchester-based organisation Brighter Sound.

The performance will bring together female musicians with design, AV and production students to form a marching band and procession featuring brand new music, which has all been created with women, equality and empowerment as its focus.

The tribute will be presented at Liverpool Sound City on May 5, and later at Festival No.6 and End of The Road towards the end of the summer.

"We want to work with women from different ages, backgrounds and a mix of musical influences and styles, with a shared vision for celebrating women and suffrage." the trio say. "This incredible anniversary has inspired us to create a new piece of music that will come alive during this residency. We want to make a bold statement, bring women together and get loud!"
