My Bloody Valentine’s first European show of 2018 has been announced for Danish festival Roskilde.
With a new album on the way sometime this year, it’s expected that the group will debut new material, alongside older material, during the performance. Their set will come just over 30 years on from their first performance at the Danish festival.
Also newly confirmed to play are Nine Inch Nails, Fever Ray, Sampha, Blackstar, Laurel Halo and Four Tet.
This year’s festival will also see Chelsea Manning give a talk, marking her first European appearance since her commutation in 2017. Manning will talk about activism and making a change in the world as part of the festival’s ‘Equality’ programme.
"The story of Chelsea Manning is dramatic and personal, and it’s highly relevant in 2018," says head curator Mette Woller. "We believe the festival-goers will be particularly interested in her will to make life-altering decisions and deal with the consequences. This won’t be a one-way talk, and we encourage the participants to be an active part of it, ask questions and inspire each other."
This year’s Roskilde will also see sets from the previously announced likes of David Byrne, Stormzy, Mogwai, Gorillaz, Cardi B and many more. The festival takes place from June 30 – July 7. For more information, and to get tickets, head here.
