The Cure are currently preparing a 40th anniversary documentary with director Tim Pope at the helm.
The feature-length film is being developed by Pope, who has directed a number of the band’s music videos, and frontman Robert Smith over the course of this year. "The film to which I will bring my own style of jiggery-pokery will use as well as ‘old favourites’, a cornucopia of material from Robert’s collection which has never been seen before," said Pope in a tweet. "Super-8; interviews; bootlegs; rare performances; behind-the-scenes, blah."
Pope says that the documentary will be organised chronologically from the 1970s "via present day to the future". Smith himself will apparently tell the story which will coincide with other 40th anniversary celebrations from the band.
The band will play London’s Hyde Park this summer on July 7 as part of the British Summer Time series of events.
