LISTEN: New Lamb Single

Lamb share first results of their studio reunion earlier this year with new single

Lamb have shared a new single, entitled ‘Illumina’, which you can hear above.

The new track arrives ahead of a tour this autumn celebrating the 21st anniversary of the release of the band’s self-titled debut album in 1996, with the band’s Andy Barlow and Lou Rhodes joining up in Barlow’s Sussex studio earlier this year to revisit the album and work on new live interpretations of its tracks.

From there, the pair began working on new material, and ‘Illumina’ is one of the results of that time spent together. "’Illumina’ was inspired by the way two people can see the same situation in very different ways and this difference, rather than being a point of conflict, brings a kind of illumination," says Rhodes. "In love we come together to learn and shine light in each other’s shadows."

Their debut album will be played in its entirety on the upcoming European tour with Rhodes and Barlow calling upon the original trumpet-player and double-bassist that featured on the recording of the record to join them for the shows.

"We had no idea what we were doing," Barlow says of the recording of the record. "I was 18 and not even aspiring to work with a singer, that wasn’t on my agenda. I very much just wanted to do interesting soundscapes. There was no idea of ‘Let’s include a song’. I really liked to make music that would fit no bracket, that would take 90 years just to describe."
