LISTEN: New Gary Numan

After a four-year hiatus, Gary Numan returns with a new album, set to be backed by a European tour

Gary Numan will release his 22nd album Savage: Songs From A Broken World this September. Above, you can check out lead single ‘My Name Is Ruin’.

The new track tells a story of renewal through disaster and aptly captures the post-apocalyptic theme of the album. Inspired by the American election of Donald Trump which happened while Numan was writing the record, the album itself is said to carry a "narrative that’s set in an apocalyptic, post-global warming Earth in the not-too-distant future".

Numan says of the album: "It’s about a desperate need to survive and they do awful things in order to do so, and some are haunted by what they’ve done. That desire to be forgiven, along with some discovered remnants of an old religious book, ultimately encourages religion to resurface, and it really goes downhill from there."

Savage: Songs From A Broken World is out on September 15 and Numan will tour Europe through October, including an extended run of UK dates. To check the list of dates, head here.
