Lee Ranaldo announced his new album Electric Trim, out 15 September via Mute Records. Watch the video for its lead single, 'Circular (Right as Rain)', above.

Electric Trim follows Ranaldo's most recent solo outing, 2013's Last Night on Earth. The nine-track album was recorded in New York City and Barcelona and produced by Raül "Refree" Fernandez.

Ranaldo called his partnership with the label "like a homecoming of sorts" -- Sonic Youth's earliest albums were produced on the Mute sub-label Blast First. "To me Mute has always been a true artist’s label, concentrating first and foremost on the music," he said.

Electric Trim includes collaborations with Sharon van Etten, Kid Millions/Man Forever and Nels Cline of Wilco. It also features Ranaldo's band The Dust, among them Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley.
