Moon Duo will release a new album, Occult Architecture Vol. 2, via Sacred Bones in May, and streaming above we have an exclusive first listen of one of its tracks, called ‘Sevens’.
The track is the second to be revealed from the upcoming album following lead single ‘Lost In Light’. ‘Sevens’ is built around shimmering, fuzzy guitars, showcasing the pair’s uncanny knack for combining psychedelia with the alternative corner of pop.
Occult Architecture is Moon Duo’s fourth album with Vol. 2 in the series following on from the previous edition released in February, which saw them exploring darker elements of their sound. This new album, naturally, folds in lighter and airier elements of their sound.
"In production we referred to Vol. 1 as the fuzz dungeon, and Vol. 2 as the crystal palace," guitarist Ripley Johnson says. "The darkness of Vol. 1 gave birth to the light of Vol. 2. We had to have both elements in order to complete the cycle. Listeners can ultimately use the two volumes individually or together, depending on circumstance or the desired effect."
The album is out on May 5 and can be pre-ordered here.
