Zyna Hel will release her debut single next month and we are very pleased to offer you the first chance to take a listen to the track, entitled 'Catacombs', above right now.

'Catacombs' sees Benjamin Power of Fuck Buttons and Blanck Mass handling production duties with Hel using the track to focus on the various complexities of mother-daughter relationships and turning in a stomping pop track in the process.

"'Catacombs; is about the sometimes complicated relationships between mothers and daughters, and the ways in which we inherit patterns from our parents and often repeat their mistakes, or their behaviour unconsciously," Hel says. "It’s in part inspired by Persephone’s descent into Hades and her mother Demeter’s frantic search for her. I’ve always been fascinated by this myth, and I really relate to Persephone and her journeys in and out of the Underworld. Ultimately in the song there is a release from this damaging symbiotic relationship through the practice of self-awareness and self-creation."

'Catacombs' will be released on June 10 via Hel's own label, Occult Babes, while she will play live at Glasgow's The Hug And Pint on June 3. You can get tickets for that show here.
