Wrangler, the project of Stephen Mallinder, Benge and Phil Winter, will soon release a new remix album containing re-workings of tracks taken from their 2014 debut album, LA Spark. Among those will be a remix from Mute label head Daniel Miller, who has taken on ‘Theme From Wrangler’. You can check it out above.

All 11 of the tracks featured on the remix album have been put together with modular synths as a focus with Daniel Miller’s reworking keeping proceedings light, a driving beat ticking the track over across much of its six minutes and the original’s vocals drifting in and out of the mix on occasion - it all makes somewhat for perfect night drive music. The video in which the track features above is directed by Daniel Conway.

Also featured on the album are re-workngs by Chris Carter, Alessandro Cortini and Scanner, among others, with Wrangler sending each act a simple proposal at the start of the project as a means of approach: "Wrangler would like to ask you to submit an experimental piece of music for inclusion on an album entitled Modular Remix. The idea is very simple. We provide some basic stems from a track selected by you from our debut album LA Spark and you add whatever sounds you like - the only rule being that you use just one analog modular synthesiser system of your choice. We've approached you because we admire your passion and commitment to electronic music, and we hope you will be interested in taking part."

Wrangler are currently readying a new album, entitled White Glue for a September release, with Sparked: Modular Remix Project set for a June 10 release ahead of it. The band will also support John Grant at London's Royal Albert Hall on June 15.
