Cancellation of band's sets at two French festivals comes after remarks against Muslims and the accusation of a conspiracy at the Bataclan

Eagles Of Death Metal have been dropped from French festivals Cabaret Vert and Rock en Seine following controversial remarks made by frontman Jesse Hughes about the Paris terror attacks last November.

Hughes, who was playing with the band at the Bataclan when their concert was targeted as part of the terror attacks, said: “It’s okay to be discerning when it comes to Muslims in this day and age. He also describes “Muslims celebrating in the streets during the attack” in the interview with Taki.

The festival responded to his comments with a statement on their Facebook page, reading: “Being in total disagreement with Jesse Hughes’ recent allegations given in an itw with an american media, both Cabaret Vert & Rock en Seine festivals have decided to cancel the band’s performance. We hank you for your understanding.”

Hughes had previously also accused the Bataclan of being in on the attack, a claim which he later apologised for saying: “I haven’t been myself since November 13.”
