Bowie Album Sets New Discogs Record

Copy of the first UK pressing of his second studio album tops previous peak sales figure on the online marketplace

Discogs has revealed a new sales record on its online marketplace with a copy of the first UK pressing of David Bowie’s self-titled 1969 album selling for a whopping $6826.

The record tops the previous figure of $6,048 previously set in 2015 by New York band Judge with their limited edition 12” Chung King Can Suck It. The news was revealed via a monthly blog by Discogs charting sales and progress on the site which is popular among vinyl collectors and buyers. The post notes that the buyer of the Bowie record is anonymous.
