Andy Votel Tribute To Andrzej Żuławski

Rich Mix event will see Polish records spun from psych to orchestral

This Friday, DJ and Finders Keepers head honcho Andy Votel will be playing a musical tribute to the film scores of Andrzej Zulawski.

Polish filmmaker Żuławski, whose works include 1981’s French-German cult-horror classic Possession, was famous for his disturbing France-set art films, and being banned in his native Poland.

Composer and collaborator Andrzej Korzyński scored both Possession and 1971’s Third Part of the Night, and it’s these compositions that Votel will be drawing on for his set. He’ll be spinning genre-spanning tracks from the electronic and psychedelic through to the orchestral and experimental, but they’ll all be exclusively Polish records. He’ll perform over a background of visuals from Żuławski's films edited by Andrew Rushton.

Votel has co-run labels Twisted Nerve and Finders Keepers since 1997, the latter specialising in putting out film scores that had previously gone unreleased.

The gig will be taking place on April 22 at Rich Mix with doors opening at 9pm. For more information go here.
