T. Rex – The Slider
The Beatles were so incredibly massive and popular in the '60s that we kids thought that it was the end of the world when they broke up. All these other groups were great, but none of them were really pop and prophetic. And then T. Rex came along with the entire glam thing. The new sound was good, it was sexy and modern, and Marc Bolan was the new pop deity. Tony Visconti, who also did string arrangements on the album, produced The Slider, with 'Metal Guru', 'Telegram Sam' and other great songs. His importance for the development of the new sound and music we realised only later on, but we started to understand how important the production is for the music.
