Van Morrison – Astral Weeks
I've listened to that album maybe more than any other. I'd be curious to know how many times. Again, my way into him was through movies. I was really obsessed with Martin Scorsese when I was a young teenager – that's kind of how I got into The Band and Bob Dylan, through watching The Last Waltz. Van Morrison's performance in that is so incredible. There's a movie that came out in 1989 – not a great movie – that James Woods is in called Immediate Family, and Glenn Close, Mary Stuart Masterson. The Glenn Close character plays 'Into The Mystic' for this young woman who's having a baby, and I know I'd heard Van Morrison on the radio, but it really stuck with me watching this movie when I was 13. After that I got Moondance and Astral Weeks and I love so much of his music now.
