Chra, the alter ego of Austrian author, DJ and Comfortzone label founder Christina Nemec, is set to release her first album on Editions Mego and you can hear two exclusive tracks from it here. Empty Airport seems to take influence from Brian Eno’s Music For Airports but Chra has also attempted to create an album that "sounds like a dystopian swan song on ‘civilizatoric’ debris". Listen to opener ‘Abandoned House’ and ‘Luminiscent’ below.
Throughout 2015, Nemec, who has also performed in bands such as Shampoo Boy, SV Damenkraf and Pasajera Oscura, has been a part of the SHAPE platform for innovative music in Europe. This programme includes 16 festivals across the continent and this Thursday, April 30, Chra will be performing at the I.C.A.S. festival in Dresden, collaborating with Viennese colleague Irradition. Themed around ‘Tools For An Unknown Future’ will bring a pan-European line-up to the German city, including Lorenzo Senni, Gábor Lázár and Mørk. For full details, head to the website here.
