"A celebration with music" from Tuareg collective

Tuareg band Tamikrest are releasing a limited-edition live record Taksera just in time for Record Store Day, and they have made the track ‘Aratan N Tinariwen’ available to stream here.

The album was recorded at the Burg Herzberg Festival in Germany on August 1 2014. Their performance was a highlight of a busy 2014 for the group, whose European tour included several Sahara Soul shows where they collaborated with the likes of Bassekou Kouyaté and Sidi Touré.

Taksera, which means “a celebration with music” in the Tamashek language of the Tuareg people, sees the band perform tracks from their three previous albums, including Quietus favourite Chatma. The album was mixed by Tinariwen-producer Jean-Paul Romann and is set for a limited release of just 1500 copies on 180-gram vinyl on March 18.
