John Doran , January 6th, 2015 12:08

Following last year's mighty Outside The Circle album and the news that Anthroprophh will be playing this year's Desertfest, the band's leader and former Heads man Paul Allen (the hirsute gentleman on the right below) cherrypicks 13 albums from his hefty collection

Von Himmel - Space Communion
This LP inspired me to start recording the first Anthroprophh album when it came out in 2010. Johnny O [Rocket Records honcho] brought it to my attention at the time. With its detail from Ash Ra Tempel's Schwingungen on the sleeve I initially thought its inspiration was purely driven by a kind of cavey version of krautrock like Siloah or the Swedish band International Harvester. On further listens there seems to be elements of drone and clever usage of field recordings without sounding too Pro Tools. This band has produced three LPs with little ceremony and little is known about who they actually are.
