Significant Involuntary Memories: Paul Allen Of Anthroprophh's 13 Top LPs
John Doran , January 6th, 2015 12:08

Following last year's mighty Outside The Circle album and the news that Anthroprophh will be playing this year's Desertfest, the band's leader and former Heads man Paul Allen (the hirsute gentleman on the right below) cherrypicks 13 albums from his hefty collection

Harmonia - Deluxe
I bought this in the days when you had to buy Japanese CDs to even get to listen to those revered Krautrock LPs. This LP sticks with me more than their first record, Musik Von Harmonia, especially the first track 'Deluxe (Immer Wieder)' that feels very sun-drenched and expansive, much like most of the LP. It has more of a NEU! 75 feel to it with Mani Neumeier providing drums but benefits from Cluster's input (Zuckerzeit is also one of my favourites). This was on heavy rotation on my CD Walkman when The Heads toured the States and I can remember riding through the desert listening to this while we recovered from the night before. Whether it be the near petrol bombing we suffered in Sacramento or some drunken knobbery. A beautiful record.
