Melvins are returning on October 14 with their new album, Hold It In. This time around, they’ve got a pair of Butthole Surfers – Paul Leary and JD Pinkus, to be precise – in tow, and we’ve been given a first play of a new track, ‘Sesame Street Meat’. It’s a pure grinder of sludgy riffs, more than capable, you’d venture, of turning poor old Snuffleupagus and friends into fillets for Buzz Osborne’s dinner plate. Says Melvins’ Dale Crover: "This track is one of the first songs we recorded together. I love Jeff’s slinky little bass line that comes in around the third measure! Then the whole band kicks in and just crushes you like a bug! One of my faves! I can’t wait to play it live!" Listen to ‘Brass Cupcake’, the first track taken off the album, below, while Ipecac Recordings’ site is the place to get hold of the record and Melvins’ own site for listings of their US tour, starting in October.
