Aphex Twin Blimp Spotted Over London

Looks like Richard D. James is up to something...

Earlier today, a bright green blimp emblazoned with "2014" and Aphex Twin’s logo was flying high over Oval Space in East London, as NME report. Elsewhere in the world, there was the same logo stencilled onto the pavement outside New York’s Radio City Music Hall, as pointed out by Pitchfork. What does this all mean? Crop circle enthusiasts have developed a taste for ambient techno and got creative with their pranks? Or Richard D. James has got something in the works?

There’s been nothing confirmed as yet, but there has already been some Aphex action earlier this year, with the Caustic Window LP seeing a release via a Kickstarter campaign. In the meantime, we’ll keep our eyes to the skies in the hopes that Mr James will give us another signal, and have a read of Ned Raggett reflecting on Selected Ambient Works Volume II from earlier this year here.
