The Endless River due for release in October

Pink Floyd are set to release their first new album in 20 years. The Endless River will be out in October, as announced by Polly Samson, the writer and wife of the band's singer and guitarist David Gilmour, on Twitter. Explaining that it's based on recordings made while the band were working on their last album, The Division Bell, Samson wrote: "Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called The Endless River. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful."

As The Guardian point out, more information has since been revealed by Durga McBroom-Hudson, one of the band's backing singers, who said that she had recorded vocals for the album last December, with Gilmour also singing lead on one track and Samson writing some of the lyrics, changing it from initial plans for an entirely instrumental recording. Beneath a picture of a recording session, McBroom-Hudson wrote on Facebook: "The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled The Big Spliff that Nick Mason spoke about). David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then." She added that people should stay tuned for news about a tour. Have a listen to The Division Bell in full below:
