The Quietus has a pair of tickets to give a way for each Godflesh/Loop gig at Heaven in London tomorrow and Thursday night.
Have toured extensively together in the 90s, the bands found common ground in their mutual pursuit of crushing heaviness, even recording covers of each other’s songs on occasion and both returning to action recently, with Loop reforming last year for a series of festival dates and Godflesh announcing the release of their seventh album, A World Lit Only By Fire, this autumn.
Says Loop’s Robert Hampson of the new dates: "For years I was hounded to reform Loop and resisted that almost instinctively, but I just couldn’t say no anymore. The power of it was too great and crucially, what I discovered playing with Godflesh again was that we ALL PLAY BETTER now!" Read the rest of Neil Kulkarni’s interview with Hampson and Godflesh’s Justin Broderick here and listen to ‘Ringer’ from Godflesh’s recently-released Decline & Fall EP at the foot of the piece.
