DJ set on the cards for Rocket Recordings-run event in Dalston next month

Abrasive techno musician Powell will be playing a DJ set at 'Nothing Is…', the monthly night at The Alibi in Dalston, on June 20. Run by Chris Reeder from Rocket Recordings, along with Jamie Paton from Cage & Avery, Cherrystones and someone called 'Little Dirty', 'Nothing Is...' promises a "night of cosmic wonderment", with a no-holds-barred musical policy taking in cosmic disco, psych and space rock and previous guests that include Teeth Of The Sea member and Quietus film editor Mat Colegate from Teeth of The Sea.

However if you're aware of the kind of thing Powell plays out - and which you can read more about in today's feature with him - you can probably predict the vibe will be less "wonderment" and more "consuming, dread-inspiring aural punishment". Expect kraut, no-wave, rhythmic post-punk and all-out noise bound together by heavy techno. Entry is free and the Facebook event is here; in the meantime, whet your appetite with Powell's 'Fizz' below:
