Buzz Osborne has mellowed in his old age. As the release date of the Melvins frontman's debut solo, acoustic-only record draws nearer (June 3), King Buzzo has given tQ an exclusive taste of what’s to come in 'Instrument Of God', which you can hear above.

Long-term Melvins freaks need not fret, though, for although he's getting naked sonically, so to speak, Buzzo hasn't gone all mushy, as he explains himself: "I have no interest in sounding like a crappy version of James Taylor or a half-assed version of Woody Guthrie, which is what happens when almost every rock and roller straps on an acoustic guitar. No thanks... This Machine Kills Artists is a different kind of animal."

Osborne also kicks off a mammoth tour of the U.S. on June 10, details of which can be gleaned here.
