David Bowie will be releasing two 7" picture discs for Record Store Day on April 19, one for the UK and another for the US, The Guardian reports. For the former, it’ll be ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide’, a AA-side with ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide, inc Farewell Speech (live Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture version)’, a recording of the final Ziggy Stardust show, at Hammersmith Odeon on July 3 1973, with Bowie delivering Ziggy’s last goodbye.
The States, meanwhile, will get ‘1984’, only previously released as a single in the US and Japan, accompanied by a recording of Bowie performing the Diamond Dogs track on The Dick Cavett Show.
Both records mark the 40th anniversary of their first release, with ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide’ originally out on April 12 1974 and ‘1984’ out in July 1974 in the US and October in Japan. Artwork is an outtake from the … Ziggy Stardust… album cover sessions and a shot from the Hammersmith show for ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide’, while ‘1984’ gets an image of Bowie with William Burroughs from a Rolling Stone shoot in 1973 and a still of him on The Dick Cavett Show.
