After a few sneak previews in November, we've now got the full announcement of Liars' seventh album. It's titled Mess and will be out on March 24. What to expect from the record? "Liars with their balls out," say the band's record label Mute, "an angry, ecstatic, primal burst of ritualistic electronics that sacrifices self persecution for potent, purposeful abandon. Mess is the sound of Liars not only facing their fears, but chewing them up and spitting them back out in all their Technicolor glory". The band's Angus Andrew adds: "We are a reactionary, or maybe a better word is schizophrenic band. We go from one extreme to the other. Working on the last record was really doubtful and paranoid, and that's fine, but it just meant that when work started on this one, it was the exact opposite. It was way more instinctual, fun and confident."

Andrew produced the album, recorded at the band's studio in L.A., while mixing duties were handled by Timothy “Q” Wiles, who's previously worked on VCMG's excellent Ssss. Ahead of its release, and with sets confirmed at the Desert Daze and Austin Psych festivals in the US, the band are trailing the record with album cut 'Mess On A Mission', which we've previously heard performed live and which will be released as a single on March 17; stream that and the album trailer below:
