Brixton scrotes win Quietus gong!

On Wednesday night, James 'blubstep Jim' Blake won the Barclay Music Prize, the world sighed, and got on with the current strain of mild cold that's floating in miasma across the nation. The Quietus, meanwhile, sat in the Bienvenue Cafe, Stoke Newington and over brews cogitated, argued, and beat Laurie with a quiche until we worked out the winner of the Quietus Jovian Bow Shock Award - see the full list here.

The winner is... fanfare! Drums! The winner of the 2013 Quietus Jovian Bow Shock Prize is... GREAT BLASTS RENDING UNTO THE HEAVENS! Fat White Family! The South-London-dwelling scrotes win the prize thanks to their brilliant album Champagne Holocaust, about which we said "If Mark E Smith still had a sex drive he still might not come up with anything as good as 'Cream Of The Young'." Fat White Family follow past victors Carter Tutti Void for Transverse and er, we forgot to pick winners before that.

A few weeks ago, Fat White Family wrote a despairing missive from the studio where they're making their next album where they wrote "FAT WHITES ARE RECORDING NEW MATERIAL BUT ARE EXTREMELY FAMISHED AND SKINT... PLEASE CAN SOMEONE BUY US A CHINESE TAKEAWAY ONLINE AND SEND IT OUR WAY MESSAGE US IF YOU ARE KIND AND WILLING AND WE'LL SEND YOU THE ADDRESS, WE WILL HOLD THE MUSIC RANSOM UNTIL OUR DEMANDS HAVE BEEN MET................" Well then chaps, that's your prize. You can listen to Fat White Family's recent appearance on Marc Riley here, and full details of Fat White Family's forthcoming UK tour and single can be found here.
