Indie luminaries Of Montreal have announced that they’ll be releasing their twelfth album, lousy with sylvianbriar, on October 7 via Polyvinyl Records – have a listen to opening track ‘fugitive air’ below:
Following up last year’s Paralytic Stalks and recorded in a mere three weeks in frontman Kevin Barnes’ home studio with Deerhunter’s engineer Drew Vandenberg, the album see Barnes looking to Bob Dylan and Neil Young as reference points.
Says Barnes about the production: "I knew I wanted the process to be more in line with the way people used to make albums in the late 60s and early 70s. I wanted to work fast and to maintain a high level of spontaneity and immediacy. I wanted the songs to be more lyric driven, and for the instrumental arrangements to be understated and uncluttered."
As well as the standard vinyl, CD and download options, there’ll also be rather natty limited edition runs on clear green vinyl and green cassette, the latter via Joyful Noise Recordings; pre-order the album here.
