Excellent Birmingham arts promoters and friends of the Quietus Capsule have announced that they’re putting on a new weekend festival, Bring To Light, from October 25-27, which tQ is supporting.
It’s part of the opening season for the new Library Of Birmingham, with events taking place there on the Saturday and Sunday and at Digbeth’s Rainbow Warehouse on Friday.
Heading up the bill will be Dinos Chapman, performing cuts of his dark-hued electronics from Luftbobler, which we recently picked out as one of the best albums of the year so far. Excitingly, his Bring To Light show will be matched with visuals, an "evolution" of the short films he made to accompany the album on its release, making for as much of a scorcher for the retina as the ear drum.
Also on the bill are San Franciscan metal crew Deafheaven and Shangaan Electro, the hyper-frenetic dance music curated by Soweto DJ Nozinja. There’ll also be a workshop on the dance moves, so prepare to both gaze in awe at their dancers and irreparably rupture your own limbs trying to replicate.
The line-up is completed by Masaki Batoh, Josephine Foster, Clipping, Robedoor, Zomes, High Wolf, Kogumaza, Richard Dawson, Sleaford Mods, Sarah Angliss, Delia Darlings, Laurence Hunt and looks thoroughly ace; get hold of tickets here.
In further Capsule news, they’ve confirmed that, after last year’s tenth anniversary event, their pioneering experimental festival Supersonic will return in April 2014 – as ever, stay tuned to the Quietus for further updates.
