LISTEN: New Track From James McVinnie

New song from forthcoming album Cycles

Cycles (artwork above) sees organist James McVinnie performing thirteen pieces by composer Nico Muhly, interpreting the arrangements within the specific confines and capabilities of the pipe organ.

As a taster of things to come, have a listen to opener ‘Revd Mustard His Installation Prelude’ below. Named after a mutual friend of Muhly’s and McVinnie’s, the prelude begins with an array of twinkling arpeggios, McVinnie introducing the rumbling low frequencies of the organ as the track builds on steady harmonies and layered variations before ending in a series of abrupt stops:
