LISTEN: David Lynch – Are You Sure

First play of new track from The Big Dream, out next month

On Monday, David Lynch released a AA-side single ahead of his new album The Big Dream, featuring ‘Star Dream Girl’ and ‘Are You Sure’, and we’ve got a first spin of the latter – have a listen above.

It’s the third cut we’ve heard from the record – alongside ‘Star Dream Girl’, he’s premiered ‘I’m Waiting Here’, the bonus track collaboration with Lykke Li, both of which you can watch below – and will be the album’s final track. Once again, there’s no doubting it’s Lynch here – the mid-paced drum beat immediately suggests 50s pop, a feeling pushed home by the arpeggiated guitar and dreamy lyrical conceits. Similarly, though, it wouldn’t be Lynch if it wasn’t skewed in some way, and appropriately enough the guitar is bathed in a wash of echo rendering it glacial and only half-heard, while the processed vocals take on a curiously disembodied quality.

The Big Dream is out on July 15 via Sunday Best.
