WIN: Hydroacoustics Stubnitz Tickets
The Quietus , April 30th, 2013 09:45

This Bank Holiday Monday, Hydroacoustics take over the former East German fishing vessel for a night of suitably echo-ridden transmissions - details and win a pair of tickets below

Like experimental music? Like techno? Like boats and, perhaps, Communist-era technology? Then you'll probably want to be finding yourself at the MS Stubnitz this Bank Holiday Monday May 6th, where Hydroacoustics are holding an all-day site specific music/art session. It's set to combine specially commissioned performances from electronic artists as well as AV performances and installations, all aboard the former fishing vessel, which is moored at Canary Wharf. Tickets are available here.

Heading up the live part of the bill - which starts at 8pm - are :zoviet*france, the enigmatic post-industrial electronicists who will be delivering a rare live performance. They're joined by London's Helm, aka Alter label boss Luke Younger, who uses a tangle of electronics to create sinister, sludgy noise-scapes - keep an eye on the Quietus tomorrow for an interview and exclusive mix from him. A pair of techno heads - Forward Strategy Group's Patrick Walker and TVO's Ruaridh Law - will be teaming up to perform a collaborative live work based around "an imagined history" of the Stubnitz itself. And Bristol's Roly Porter, formerly of Vex'd, is putting together an installation/performance for the night with visual artist Rod Maclachlan. Rounding off the line-up are Shelley Parker and Paul Prudence.

In addition there will be DJs and installations running throughout the day, from 2pm onwards, including "Emmannuel Spinelli’s Aquarium, an installation which uses a fishtank to manipulate field recordings of water." The MS Stubnitz has been moored in London and hosting parties since it arrived in the city for last year's Bloc Festival. This will apparently mark one of the last chances to spend time on the boat in London, as it's set to sail for shores new and sunny at the end of May.

The Hydroacoustics crew have offered us a pair of tickets to give away for the night. To be in with a chance of winning, just EMAIL an answer to the following question to comps@thequietus.com, with 'Hydroacoustics' in the subject line. (Please don't post your answers in the comments below). The closing date is midday, this Friday 3rd May. To read the Quietus Competition Terms & Conditions, click here.
