British Sea Power recently released a pleasingly simple video to their ace new single 'Machineries Of Joy' that featured a lady riding around the countryside on an old road bike. It seems that cycle enthusiasts across the land have been impressed by the band's endorsement of this healthy and environmentally friendly mode of transportation, and have been discussing it on various online forums. This has given the band the idea of releasing their own range of bikes, with talks apparently in progress with some leading manufacturers. "A BSP bike is the way forwards – or backwards if you have that particular cycling skill," says BSP's Jan Scott Wilkinson. "Of course we all love The Smiths, but the Johnny Marr Fender Jaguar is so 1998... We reckon our superstar drummer Woody has the build to be a loyal peloton pal to Biggo Wiggo. All he needs is six months in intensive training and the top-secret illegally-doped Kendal mint cake we are working on."

Said British Sea Power about the video to 'Machineries Of Joy': "The film has two stars – sometime triathlete Kate Tiernan and a 1970s road bike by Allin Cycles of Croydon. Apparently, as well as filing frame lugs into elegant filigree-like patterns to save weight, the Allin Cycles staff would also sell gramophones to boost winter income. Now the worlds of cycling and recorded sound are once more combined in the British Sea Power video." New BSP LP Machineries Of Joy is released on April 1.
