SWANS For Green Man
The Quietus , March 6th, 2013 06:36

...and the Brecons were rent asunder

As anyone who has seen them in recent years well knows, the Swans live spectacle is an intense, high-volume experience that, sadly, you usually only get to experience indoors. Not so this summer, though, as Green Man have taken the audacious move of booking Michael Gira and co for this year's Festival. Aieeeee! The River Usk shall be diverted from its course!

Also newly added to the bill are John Cale, Low, Midlake, Thought Forms and Darren Hayman, along with Lord Huron, Darkstar, Lau, Allah-Las, Sam Amidon, Mikal Cronin, Fernhill, Anna von Hausswolff, Gulp, Marika Hackman, Grass House, Keston Cobblers Club, Man's An Idiot. And where most of the festivals where the scran is pretty high-end only offer you tedious guilty pleasures fare after the bands have finished, Green Man this year has an 'After Dark' area featuring Erol Alkan and Daniel Avery live, along with Andrew Weatherall and Jon Hopkins, whose forthcoming new LP is rumoured to be rather ace. The Horrors, Moon Duo, Edwyn Collins, Archie Bronson Outfit, The Pastels, Rachel Zeffira and Buke & Gase are all already on the bill.
