LISTEN: Gazelle Twin Covers Wire
The Quietus

We're streaming a great rejig of 'Heartbeat'

Perhaps it's the sharp structures and minimalism of Wire that lends them to such magnificent cover versions - we're thinking that great Fischerspooner take on 'The 15th', My Bloody Valentine's 'Map Ref. 41°N 93°W', Minor Threat doing '12XU', Elastica's 'Connection'. Now, Gazelle Twin has stepped up to deliver a brilliant, spooky version of 'Heartbeat' (itself given a few runs by Big Black). The cover of 'Heartbeat' features on Gazelle Twin's new EP Mammal, which is released on January 28th and features new music, along with remixes by Kuedo, Alixander III, Renaissance Man and Clint Mansell.

Serious Drinking's 12XU cover was boss: "Saw you in the offy, buying a crate" etc.

I never rated the MBV cover for one reason: what's the point of doing a Map Ref cover if you don't have an engaging way of dealing with Colin's saucy cry of "chorus"?
Could also add Flying Saucer Attack's magnificent cover of Outdoor Miner (even better than Lush's).

I have no idea who or what a Gazelle Twin is, but this is ace.
Good work.
