The Twilight Sad are set to release a remix album of their last LP, No One Can Ever Know - The Remixes, out on November 26 via Fat Cat Records. The album features some rather ace reworkings of the Scottish indie trio by Liars, JD Twitch, The Horrors and more - have a listen to our exclusive stream of the record:

We asked singer James Graham to talk us through their remixers:

Brokenchord
I first heard of Brokenchord through Radiohead. His remix of 'Give Up The Ghost' was one of my favourite from their recent remix record. He originally sent us a remix of 'Sick' and it was great, but then he sent an e-mail saying he'd got really into our album and decided to do another remix of 'Sick'. What do you do when you have two remixes you really like? Put them both on the record!

Com Truise
Com Truise has remixed 'Sick' for us and unlike some other remixes on the album its quite noticeably an interpretation of the original song and I really like the way he's worked the vocals around a whole new sound and production within the remix. We've been fans of his for a while, and he's remixed a lot of great artists like Daft Punk, Twin Shadow and Neon Indian, so we're very happy that we're now on that list of bands he's remixed.

Liars
We've been fans of Liars for a long time. I remember seeing them in a packed-out Nice & Sleazys in Glasgow six years ago and it’s still one of my favourite gigs I've been to. When I heard they'd agreed to remix one of our songs I was really excited to hear it and when I found out that song was 'Nil' I knew it would be brilliant, which I think it is. Also, their new album is one of my favourite records this year. With the direction they took on WIXIW it seemed as though it was a perfect fit for them to remix 'Nil'.

The Horrors (Tom Furse)
The Horrors are one of our favourite bands of recent times and we were really happy when Tom Furse said he would like to be part of the remix album. He's completely transformed "Not Sleeping" into something we would have never expected. As tracks go, the original was a pretty heavy song in lyrical terms. It is a bit of a slow burner but it contains some of my favourite lyrics from the album; it was part of the first batch of demos we did for No One Can Ever Know.

JD Twitch Optimo
We were really hoping that JD Twitch would want to do a remix for us on this project. Being from Glasgow and knowing how much people loved going to Optimo on a Sunday night meant he was an ideal choice for us. He’s reinterpreted 'Alphabet' as a mainly instrumental track. I like to think that this track would have been played at Optimo back in the day.

Warsnare
We felt it was important to have a mixture of established acts and up and coming artists and producers on the record. We were excited that Warsnare was going to be involved in the project and he has produced a completely different take on 'Not Sleeping' for us, which fits perfectly on the record. He also recently worked with Breton so we had that connection in common. 

Breton
We'd first heard of Breton through our label Fat Cat who later signed them. I remember seeing their video for 'The Commission' and being really impressed with their visuals. Roman from the band actually did the trailer for No One Can Ever Know so we thought it would be great to work together again and get them to do a remix for us.

Ambassaduers
Ambassaduers is an exciting new electronic artist from Brighton - we were introduced to his music via our label FatCat. As I said before, we felt it was important to get a mixture of established acts and new producers and artists to have a wide variety of takes on our music.
