Laurie Tuffrey , September 18th, 2012 08:40

Hear three tracks from the forthcoming remastered edition of Nico's fourth album

Universal/Island are set to release a double-disc remastered edition of Nico's The End... on October 1, and we've got an exclusive stream of some tracks from the reissue - have a listen to 'Secret Side' from the studio album and 'You Forgot To Answer' and 'The End' from her 1974 Peel Session below:

The album forms the final installment in her trio of albums with fellow Velvet and Island labelmate John Cale as producer, alongside The Marble Index from 1969 and Desertshore the year after. Cale brought in Roxy Music’s Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera to play on the record, accompanying Nico’s stark vocal and harmonium performances.

The reissue’s second disc has a host of previously unreleased material, including her recordings for her 1974 Peel Session (as well as ‘Secret Side’ from a 1971 Peel Session, on CD for the first time) and an appearance on the Old Grey Whistle Test from 1975.

Nico was also on the bill for a 1974 Island showcase, along with Cale and Eno, and her performances of ‘The End’, included on the original album of the concert, and the previously unreleased ‘Das Lied Der Deutschen’ are both included here.
