1,000 Years of Popular Music

Richard Thompson announces full UK tour.

The “uncanny genius” that is Richard Thompson announced today that, this coming January and February, he will be heading out on a full UK tour of his remarkable and much acclaimed 1,000 Years of Popular Music.

Way back in 2004 Thompson sold out two nights at London’s prestigious Sadler’s Well and is now taking the project across the UK, playing 19 dates, including two nights at London’s Barbican.

As the title would suggest, Thompson’s project takes the audience on a journey through a millennium of popular music, embracing a musical history that stretches from the ballads of the early middle ages, through more modern songs by artists as diverse as Nat King Cole, Nelly Furtado, Gilbert & Sullivan and The Who, all presented with Thompson’s humour and virtuoso guitar style.
