Sonic Youth Release Live LP From 1985

Band to release Smart Bar - Chicago 1985 on November 12th

Sonic Youth, whose future operations are currently uncertain since the split of band members Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, have announced that they are to release a live recording of a full show from August 1985. Entitled, simply, Smart Bar – Chicago 1985, it documents a show from their US tour following the release of Bad Moon Rising, and features a selection of tracks from that era, including early performances of material from Evol and many songs from BMR itself.

The LP was mixed and mastered by the band from the original tapes, and comes accompanied by liner notes and photos. It’s set for release via Goofin’, in double LP, CD and digital download formats, on November 12th. Its tracklist runs as follows:

‘Hallowe’en’

‘Death Valley ’69’

‘Intro/Brave Men Run (In My Family)’

‘I Love Her All The Time’

‘Ghost Bitch’

‘I’m Insane’

‘Kat ‘N’ Hat’

‘Brother James’

‘Kill Yr Idols’

‘Secret Girl’

‘Flower’

‘The Burning Spear’

‘Expressway To Yr Skull’

‘Making The Nature Scene’
